Thursday evening, before I spoke at the Republican 3rd District Christmas Party, I listened to the stump speeches of Ty Masterson, Scott Schwab and Jeff Colyer. These three are the standard bearers for the status quo. They each touted their accomplishments as leaders of our state. I had to wonder:
The power of incumbency is nothing new. I am reading Plutarch’s “Roman Lives”. Cato the Elder, born in 234 BC, criticized his fellow citizens for electing the same people repeatedly. He said “You will make people think that in your opinion either high office is virtually worthless, or there are virtually no people who are worthy of high office”. There you have it, over 2,250 years ago in Rome, Cato the Elder was wrestling with the same issue that we are: entrenched, well financed politicians. Ours are financed heavily by those who are receiving corporate welfare/tax incentives. The latest corporate welfare/tax incentive bill was passed by our REPUBLICAN SUPER MAJORITY led by Senate President, Ty Masterson, and was signed into law last April by Democrat Governor, Laura Kelly. Are you noticing a pattern? The Masterson/Kelly Team? This law exempts AI Data Centers from sales tax on construction materials and equipment. Meanwhile WE are hammered by HIGH sales tax, which in some shopping areas exceeds 10%. In Bluhawk at 159th and Antioch, the sales tax rate is 10.85%. The standard rate in Overland Park is 9.35%. Here is the goody package that Bluhawk received:
Merry Christmas to all those showered with OUR tax dollars: Panasonic, over $1 billion; Prairie Fire (I call it Prairie Not on Fire) nearly $65 million and in default; Fiserv, $154 million-they lost $30 billion in value on the stock exchange in October; De Soto’s AI Data Center-$50 billion in Industrial Revenue Bonds (IRBs); Cnano (Chinese company) $34 million in IRBs… the list goes on and on and on and on. It is up to you to stop the incumbency insanity. You do have a choice. You can vote for me, Charlotte O’Hara. I will stop tax incentives and corporate welfare. I will lead the fight for election integrity. I will stand boldly for life by taking the following actions:
👉 Please contribute $100 or more today so my voice will be heard on the KSGOP debate stage in January 2026. We are over halfway to our goal, we need your help to get to the finish line.
