Complexity’s Duplicity

I have been thinking about and researching AI, how it is currently and will continue to bend, confuse, obfuscate and manipulate YOU AND ME!! Yes, AI is the data set (Large Language Model or LLM) of programmers’ handy work. Although even the brightest of the bright do not understand the language that AI has developed to spit out instantaneous searches or design art or the black box of cheating for students or the land of template job resumes.

From American Scientist Sept-Oct edition: but the exact programming that results from this training (LLM) still remains a bit of a mystery to engineers.

“A bit of a mystery” should be read, the engineers do not know how AI works. I guess this will launch the search for the Rosetta Stone (key found in 1799 to unlock Egyptian hieroglyphics) of AI language? Complexity’s duplicity?

Complexity’s confusion example: while being interviewed by Eric Thomas with the Kansas Reflector, I pointed out the 2024 diversion of $108 million of Johnson County public funds to the pockets of the mega wealthy through corporate welfare. He responded (as almost all people do) that this issue is complex and he doesn’t understand the facts and figures that I was presenting him. I told him, it’s simple: the reverse Robin Hood syndrome, stealing from the poor and giving to the rich.

Or the “complexity of education” as the experts shell out “best practices” to educate our children. This results in the federally mandated Common Core and Social Emotional Learning curriculum, bringing us a nationwide avalanche of failure.  Solution simple: Reading, phonics; writing, cursive and arithmetic, facts please.  And kick the federal government out of Kansas and take back OUR local control.

And think about this, the Mayflower Compact, foundation of our Constitution, is 200 words. Then our Founding Fathers, men of words, highly educated in a 4-page document gave us our Constitution per the National Archives’ website. Which then required ratification by the States.  Note: The States created the Federal Government, just let that soak in for a moment.

Compare our 4-page Constitution to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) which is approximately 906 pages and according to USA Today, October 25, 2013 edition, nearly 11,000 pages of regulations.  One 2014 source put the number of pages at 20,000. Talk about complexity’s duplicity!!  Affordable became an unaffordable complex monster.  Simple: health care, individual responsibility with a safety net, including pre-existing conditions and requiring those who can to work.

And now with AI comes the necessary mega data centers (which receive huge corporate welfare/tax incentives), gobbling up our land, power and water with us chasing the illusion, THIS IS THE ANSWER!!! The answer until…something else replaces this AI dream. But a certainty is that AI will accelerate the art of complexity’s duplicity-clouding and confusing what is real and what is not.

Perhaps this will force us to reexamine our reliance on computers, kick them out of the classroom, teach our children the art of thinking and begin to communicate with each other more often face to face. Simple: machines are machines (which currently are humanly programmable) and people are people (who forever are gullible).
