YES!!!! Good news from our Department of Justice. On May 7th, their press release announced that 205 child s*x predators had been arrested and 115 children rescued from exploitation. How many more have not been apprehended? What horror among us, that seemingly normal people ply their heinous criminal trade, preying upon our children. A former police officer, an Army Reservist, and a state trooper have been indicted, allegedly involved in such heinous acts of child s*xual assault, online grooming, and production of child p*rnography. How can this be? Unfortunately, depraved individuals are in every walk of life. In addition, on April 29th, the Department of Justice announced the arrest of two individuals, leaders of 764. The press release stated that 764 is “a violent online network that seeks to destroy civilized society through the corruption and exploitation of vulnerable populations, which often include minors”. The exploitation of our children is an evil, dark place to which our society has fallen. These crimes are accelerating in numbers and viciousness and are among the reasons I continue standing before the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) asking of what value are the obscene and p*rnographic books (deemed appropriate for our children) currently in OUR public and school libraries. The content of the most egregious books has been compiled by Johnson County Moms for Liberty in their Parent Guide. You will be beyond shocked at the graphic (cartoons aren’t considered p*rnographic) highly charged s*xual content within the covers of these books. Here is the link to the guide: https://portal.momsforliberty.org/media/files/files/433c07d7/mom-s-for-liberty-complete.pdf
My questions: Is the content in these books normalizing aberrant behavior? Are children being groomed by these hyper-s*xualized books, specifically targeted toward our elementary-aged children and adolescents? Is this horrific material a stepping stone to the evil, dark world of child s*x crimes? P*rnography addiction is an exploding epidemic rotting our society. So, of what possible value are books, paid for by you and me and approved by our Library Board and our school boards, which decay our children’s minds and moral fiber? Talk about throwing gasoline on a fire. Surely, we agree with FBI Director Kash Patel’s statement that “Every child deserves to grow up free from fear and exploitation…(and) there is no place to hide for those who prey on children.” However, by standing silent, we become complicit. You’re either battling the wrong or allowing it to continue. The grave sin of Omission. With Moms for Liberty Parent Guide in hand, twice I have asked our BOCC what value these books hold for our children, and twice, silence was their response. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran Pastor who died in the Flossenburg concentration camp by hanging on April 9, 1945, stated, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”Will silence be your response? Charlotte O’Hara |
