Dark Money, Where It Comes From

We’re getting down to the wire on the August 4th governor’s race in the Republican primary. What a journey this has been, 47,000 miles and counting. The number of people that I have met has been an extraordinary delight and re-establishes my faith in Kansans’ rock-solid commitment to conservative values. However, the enemies of our values are well financed and they have Kansas in their crosshairs to turn Kansas blue, at least as reflected at the ballot box.

An example: in 2022, Kansas Values Institute flooded Kansas with $14 million to keep Laura Kelly in the governor’s mansion.  She won by a razor thin margin of 22,257 votes over Derek Schmidt.  And I will be the first to admit that Derek wasn’t the standard bearer of conservatism in the 2022 governor’s race. The more he talked on the campaign trail, the worse he came across.  Anyway, I have been pleasantly surprised that he has towed the conservative line in Washington D.C. and is serving Kansas well. But back to the current leftist invasion of Kansas.

You see, the leftist big monied folks, such as George Soros, Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg fund groups like the Kansas Values Institute as they see Kansas as an easy target with a population of only 2.9 million. Yes, we are a cheap buy to add a U.S. Senator to the Democrat side of the ledger.  And we are going to witness a donnybrook of a battle between our Republican U.S. Senator Dr. Roger Marshall and Adam Hamilton, the likely candidate (99.9%) to win the Democrat nomination.  Hamilton is the founder and current pastor of the Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood. The Democrat dark money funding machine will be in full force in this race in the November general election. We cannot afford to lose Dr. Marshall (and in the past I have criticized him for running from the leftist loud mouths at a forum in Oakley).  However, time to put that aside.  So, PLEASE keep your eyes on this race and tell your friends how important it is to support Dr. Marshall to keep the Republican majority in the U.S. Senate.

And where is all of the dark money landing in our August 4th primary?  It is financing the NO vote for the direct election of our State Supreme Court Justices, yes, the Kansas Values Institute is funding the Kansas Fair Court Fund.  This is the most important issue on the ballot. PLEASE VOTE YES on the direct election of our State Supreme Court Justices. There are 19,811 reasons to vote YES. That is how many babies we lost in 2024 to abortion according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Tragically Kansas is the abortion CAPITOL on the plains.

Now back to my governor’s race, as you know I have stood solidly on my conservative principles:

1. Life from conception to natural death.

2. Property rights: stop the taking of our property by abolishing property taxes.

3. Corporate Welfare: stop the steal of our tax dollars, end all property, sales and income tax incentives.

4. 2nd Amendment: I have an A rating from the NRA and my NRA sticker has proudly traveled with me on the rear window of my car.

5. Election integrity: another stop the steal; Election Day is Election Day, throw the crooked machines out and return to paper ballots, hand count, stop universal mail in ballots (no chain of custody, ripe for fraud), return to absentee ballots.

6. Education: stop taking federal funds; the federalization of education has been a disaster, close the State Department of Education, a $300 million annual paper shuffler cost, push all curriculum decisions to the local level and begin educating and STOP indoctrinating our children.
