Cranky Sarnecki and Kick Out the Snakes, Keep Kansas Strong - Charlotte O'Hara for Governor

Cranky Sarnecki and Kick Out the Snakes

By: Charlotte O’Hara

Good morning!!  Well, I continue to be asked about Cranky Sarnecki and criticized for not giving details of his ugly behavior backstage prior to the June 5th, Johnson County Community College gubernatorial debate. So here it goes, yes, Philip Sarnecki verbally attacked me about 10 minutes before we were escorted out by Next Star staff onto the stage and after I reported the incident to Next Star, who then reported it to the Kansas Republican State Party, according to Danedri Hubert, State Republican Chairwoman and Matt Bingesser, Republican 3rd District Chairman.  There was an added twist, because unbeknownst to me Next Star had reported an additional complaint. According to Danedri and Matt multiple Next Star staff members were harassed by a high-ranking Sarnecki staffer.

I can only testify to my encounter with Philip, who, while I was stretching my legs after being cramped up for 2 hours in my assigned “green room”, asked if we could talk. I said yes, assuming we would converse in the hallway outside our “green rooms”.  However, he asked me to come into his room where he began to angrily accuse me of being a liar saying something about Terry Dunn. Remember, according to Philip, in our February 2025 coffee, he told me that it was Clark Hunt and Terry Dunn (J.E. Dunn Construction) who had “begged” him to run.

I quickly exited his room, attempting to disengage from his ugly and uncalled for behavior only to have him follow me down the hall shouting, “You’re a liar, Charlotte you are a liar” and then I believe he said 1st Corinthians and began quoting scripture. I immediately reported the incident to Next Star staff and asked them to have someone talk to Philip and tell him to cool his heels. The staff member told me there was not time before taking us out on stage, but that they would keep me safe. Now you have the details, you decide if this hothead is who you want for Kansas governor.

One more note: when my volunteer and I left the debate and interviews, driving to dinner at J. Alexanders, I told her of the ugly encounter with Philip, as she was not with me but was in the auditorium for the debate. Arriving at the restaurant and seated with members of my family who had attended the debate, I immediately told them of the incident, much to their shock and amazement.

So, fast forward to the upcoming June 25th State Chamber gubernatorial debate/forum in Wichita. I was not and have not been invited. About 10 days ago I emailed the State Chamber to ask why I had received no invitation and if I could be included, no response from the Chamber. I then left 2 voice messages on the State Chamber’s voice mail and no response.

So, Cranky Sarnecki, has been invited to the State Chamber debate/forum and will be onstage with Republicans Ty Masterson, Scott Schwab, Vicki Schmidt and Democrats Ethan Corson and Cindy Holscher. Masterson, Corson and Holscher all voted yea for SB 98 (2025) the 20-year sales tax exemption for data centers and HB 2001 (special session 2024) which was the underlying Chiefs’ Steal legislation. Vicki Schmidt has vanilla stances on her website on these issues. Scott Schwab publicly stated his support of the Chiefs’ Steal and had a local control stance on data centers at the June 18th Sedgwick County Republican debate. But I, who had qualified for the Republican debates, was not invited.  Gee, I wonder if it was because I have been a longtime critic of the State Chamber’s support of Billionaire Welfare and illegal immigration.  If you somehow get in to hear the debate, remember, birds of a feather do flock together, especially if it is the Kansas State Chamber who is deciding the invitees.

Anyway, my turn to quote (actually paraphrase) scripture: Jesus instructed his disciples to shake the dust from their feet when encountering those who rejected their (The Good News) message. So, I shake the dust from my feet and June 25th? I will be in Liberal to visit with the good folks in SW Kansas.  WOW!! What an adventure this campaign has been.

God Bless and Keep Your Eyes On Jesus,

Charlotte O’Hara
Republican for Kansas Governor, 2026
